EMAILS FROM LISTENERS
MORE From Kevin
Hey Chris,
I can't keep emailing the same intro, but can't hurt one more time... its been just more awesome stuff on Next.
From 10/29, the one that jumped out and grabbed me was
'And You Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead'
Two Sheds and the Cover were pretty good too. Are the covers always new?
One song that didn't click with me was The Dears, Lights Off -- just didn't do it for me.
I've also been driving backward into the archives on line and have been enjoying the entire show and then really digging at least one song per show.
10/22 -- I'm from Barcelona. Very simple and catchy. I also dig the Annuals from that show too.
9/24 (?) Also loved the Eddie Vedder cover for the Cubs fans.
I think I've only stumbled upon on show in August where I came up empty and didn't really need to listen to another song.
I did stumble on a strikeout show for me back in August I think, where I didn't pick up any new favorites, but that's still a remarkable hit rate.
I also hopped over to check out your Last.FM stuff. I loved the concept of Last.fm, signed up long time ago and then never used it because I wasn't listening to any music on my computer, only on my iPod. Looks like they've fixed that so I've got to try it out again.
From Danny
Hey Chris,
This is Danny Golub from Urban Fetch. I speak for everyone in the band when I say thank you sooooo much for playing our song on NEXT last night. It was a great opportunity for new people to hear our music, and our name. I would also like to say that I loved your show and will continue to listen to it. The concept of hearing new music on the radio is a very valuable one that I think got lost a long time ago. I think NEXT is a breath of fresh air, and you do a really good job of running it. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of it.
Take it easy,
From Mike
I just accidentally stumbled across your new music show (Next) after doing a google search, and I just wanted to let you know that I love it. I'm lookin' forward to listening to the archived shows that you have online. Very well done, keep up the good work.
From Kevin
Hey Chris,
Finally got around to downloading the Next show to my iPod. As I've emailed before, The Peak is definitely one of my favorite things about moving to Westchester, but I was never consistently catching Next on the radio.
Thanks for taking it to a format that everyone should be 'broadcasting' in, if the music industry can just catch up, get out of the way and realize this helps, not hurts their business. I'll be curious to see if the number of downloads ever really takes off.
The song selection is killer and I absolutely dig it.
I think Noah and the Whale might be my next favorite song for this week.
From Jodie
Hello Chris,
I just came back from seeing Eddie Vedder in Newark, NJ at the NJ PAC. Let me tell you my friend, what an absolutely grand evening I had sharing it with Mr. Vedder and some 2,000 plus fans. This show made me stop in my tracks and just say, now I can go forward and pass since seeing Mr. Vedder solo. What an absolutely great night it was. I will never forget this night.
From Brighid
I usually don't respond to these but Oh My God great pick with the Band Marino song!! I caught the show last night and woke up with that song in my head. Its definitely my new favorite song.
From Frank
Hey Chris…
I’m listening to The Parlor Mob’s “And You Were A Crow”. Just got it today.
All I can say is…. WOW! Great cd.
Keep the great new stuff coming!
From Elisa
Hi-
I wrote to you a long time ago when I first subscribed (I had just heard
your show for the first time) and I wanted to write again and thank you for
leading the way to some great music. Every week I check each song (when
available on itunes and download plenty of them. It's been a great, great
resource for me.
From Chris
Chris, sorry but I really don't get how your show fits into the programming at the Peak. I'm not saying your tastes or work is bad, just that it doesn't fit the demo's of the show. It's a little out there. Maybe that's what the programming director wants. Give the station a colonic once a week to keep it fresh and new???
Personally I love blues and more straight forward rock and roll which the station pretty much delivers and that's why I love the station. Westchester in the 30 years I've lived here, has never had a station like this. That's what I would be looking for, new blues and rock bands to premier.
Just my tastes, take for what you want.
From Gered
The Jose Gonzalez commercial was a Sony Bravia Commercial.
The second commercial was better, although the music is not quite as good.
Directed by Jonathan Glaser, the guy who did the "Virtual Insanity" video
for Jamiroquai, also the film Sexy Beast.
Keep the new favorites comin'
From Andi
Very cool, Chris!!!
Looking forward to hearing more about Rock n' Roll Playground. Right now my 5 and 7 year-old boys are into The Fratellis and The Clash. Lucky me.
From Dana
Hi, Chris! It's time NEXT got it's due in the mainstream press; you are performing a weekly "public service" to us die-hard Rock fans, keeping us from getting too set in our ways. There's nothing like your show anywhere on New York-area airspace; thanks for putting the time in on the research. Let's hope you, Kate, and the family don't get transferred to another city any time soon! And, yes, "Yellow Submarine" (the movie and CD) was my kids' first "primer" into the wonderful, kaleidescopic world of Rock - still one of their favorites now that they're entering their "tweens". I can't wait for them to start bringing home new music and saying, "Dad, Mom - you HAVE to hear this!" It's one of the aspects of life that I firmly believe that will keep us all young, connected, and full of possibilities, wonder, and hope. I wish you continued success -

"Chris Bro is the Menudo of the airwaves" ??? Ha. No worries, great article. street cred...rising.
From Brian
there was a song you guys played on the NEXT show tuesday night that i really liked. i think it was called handled with care?? kinda upbeat rock song. could you play it again? reminded me of the beatles meets weezer.
From Sulli
Hey Chris,
I was listening to The Aliens the other day........a group from Next. Karen, my wife says..."Hey...that song is from 21, the movie." A couple of days later, similar situation with MGMT, which I know you played at one point, too. Then Peter, Bjorn, and John.
So, either you consulted on the soundtrack.....or you should be suing somebody.
From Mike
First, Ghostland Observatory. I remember hearing the term "Dance Rock" and saying........huh? You played 'Dance On My Grave' a couple of weeks back, and I can't get that song out of my head. Its like Queen using a Casio........weird as hell but it works
From Diane
The new music show is awesome!!!! THANKS SO MUCH!
From Augusto
Hey Chris:
Love your show. I listen every week. I'm always in search of good new music and your show is a great way to satisfy my hunger.
From Loretta
Watchin' LUNAR ECLIPSE! Listening to YOU...it doesn't get better than THIS!
From John
nice playlist. This is how radio should be all day.
From Eileen
Hey Chris,
I was pleasantly surprised to receive the current issue of In Town, what a wonderful article. Bless you and your family. Had know idea that you two were married and always wondered about the connection to the Bob Woodruff foundation, as many of my neighbors here know them and are involved with that worthy cause. Very cool to find out that you and Kate enjoyed the Cope show at the Paramount. I had seen him earlier in the spring at the Music Hall in Tarrytown, and the Paramount solo acoustic was a special treat. My only regret, is we didn't get to enjoy some of Alice Smith a little more, she opened in Tarrytown and sang one or two in Peekskill.
From Nan
Hi Chris,
I just returned from a few days out of town and found my "In town Mag" in the mail. What a nice article about Kate and of course, the photo of your home and the two of you....
Everywhere I go I find Peak listeners now and they all like your show. Thanks for opening up a new vista for us.
From Tracey Bon Jovi
Hey Bro,
Thanks so much for playing Michael McDermott on your show. This old spinster LUVS it! Hopefully you will have an opportunity to hear some of his other work. The man is a songwriting genius!
Thanks Again!
From Gus
Also; no offense, but Cathedral is (in my opinion) pretty much the worst track off Sticks & Stones. And while they're definitely in their prime live, I think that their studio work also sounds quite excellent. What with the quality and everything...
From Gered
Its funny I was going to mention the whigs to you last week. Truly the only '08 album I've gotten into so far. Good Stuff. Also Doug Burr, mellow, texas gospel inspired guy reminds me of lyle lovett and ryan adams writing slow songs together.
From Jen
Hey Chris,
Just saw the new website for Next. Pretty cool stuff.
As always, my praises to all of you at the Peak for
having such great programming and playing so many of
my favorite artists.
From Walter
It is great to see such momentum behind NEXT. It is funny, with a forum,
how many true music aficionados come out of the woodwork. I am sure they
all appreciate you culling such great music in one place.
From Mike (file this under things I wish I said)
Hey Chris,
I'm loving that Apollo Heights stuff........it is the Outkast follow up to Speakerboxx, only it wasn't recorded by Outkast.
From Victor
Happy new year to you. Great top 2007 lists. I was so glad you got the
Earle Greyhound in there. I'll never get The National, but see you have
gotten the Blakes in - so I am happy.
From Sara
Way to have Stab the Matador on your set list. They're a great band
with a great sound. Keep 'em playing!
FROM Deanna
I loved the song by the Kris Special. The lead singer has a sweet and pretty voice. Thanks!
From Luli
I love the playlist, great way to find little music treasures!
I appreciate that, keep it up!
From Dave
Chris,
I like it, that's a nice top 15, I'm looking forward to the show.
From Sulli
OK.....
A few quick things from somebody completely unqualified to comment........
Radiohead better be in the top 15. And Wilco. And Arcade Fire. And Band of Horses. And Spoon. And White Rabbits. And the National. Or else I'll type nasty e-mails......and you don't want that. I can live without Great Lakes Myth Society and Pink Martini.......but barely.
Why wasn't Jose rated higher?
And Golden Bear and Babyshambles......very, very nice. After discovering them on Next, they remain in my favorite mixes.
Be good Chris. Take care.
From Nicole
Hi Chris,
Happy '08!
I know that lyric... Death Cab For Cutie..."The New Year"
Thanks for keeping us up with what's going on in music. I know the Peak will keep it rockin' in '08!
From Kristin
chris

From Loretta
Dear Chris,
HEY! Like your MIXED UP Christmas List!! Your comments as well. DID NOT win that last BIG Mega Million's Prize. I sure did TRY! "NEXT" year! ; ) Will holler soon as I do hit it big, and you could keep the 10 bucks and buy a Beer for yourself and ANYONE YOU LIKE then. Thanks for all your hard work this past year. It's been quite enjoyable & enlightening! I do think you would do well at teaching a College Course on "MUSIC" in similar fashion to "I Shit You Not".
A wealth of knowledge you are, and a nice guy! Have a WONDERFUL HOLIDAY! Best Wishes for You, your Family in 2008!
